A significant part of your thinking must be concerned with earning a living.
We (hobbyists) all share the same interests and ambitions that you do, but-in-
some point we had to decide what we would do to earn a living, either as part
of our interest in ichthyology or tropical fish or aquatic biology, etc., or
separate and distinct from a hobby. Hobbyists that don't make a living in this
area can be just as much a contributor to knowledge as professionals, although
sometimes without the same credibility. Making a living by your passionate
hobby is not for everyone.
