I posted Bruce's announcement on the new Web site to my local aquarium club list, where it was picked up by Shane Linder and forwarded to Planet Catfish. Here's what Shane had to say:

I would highly recommend joing NANFA if you are not already a member. To my mind NANFA represents the best case scenario of hobbyists and scientists working together. They also publish, what is to my mind, the most well done club/organization magazine in print.

As President of NANFA, I'd like to invite everyone to visit the new, improved, all-around-pumped-up NANFA website-in-www.nanfa.org. Todd Crail has been working on the new design and look for months and the hard work shows. One feature that could be of use to everyone is Chris
Scharpf's Checklist of North American Freshwater Fishes, an excellent reference for known species (and correct spellings of both common names and the binomials, too).

This is our first contribution in what we hope will be improved information services about North America's fish fauna on-line. A key part of protecting and understanding biodiversity is the simple knowledge of what species are present. Stay tuned for more. And, we
urge you to join NANFA to support this further work on behalf of hobbyists, professionals and the fishes themselves.
