Paul's announcement below, of an on-line forum for the study of European
Freshwater Fishes, may be of interest to some on this list as a complement
to North American issues.

Dear all,

I hope that you don't mind this message since I would like to announce a
new group/forum that I just started. I believe that this new discussion
group may supplement the existing groups rather than compete with them.
Some brief info:

I am currently working on a local fieldguide on the freshwater
fish... This is how many of my e-mail messages started in the last
months. I was searching for many bits and pieces of information and
have contacted many collegues. I found that there are many fish-
enthousiasts around. While there are general world-wide discussion-forums
like Fish-Sci and specialised ones on Gobiidae and Shad, I found that there
is no e-group on biology, identification and distribution of European
freshwater fish.

Because of this I decided to start a new e-group. My idea is that it could
be used for announcing symposia, asking questions, discussing European fish-
related topics and the like. If you also think that this group can be
usefull, I invite you to join it. It can be found at:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/European_Fish/

Please note that it is possible to adjust the settings in yahoogroups so
that you do not receive messages in your mailbox. By using this option it
is still possible to use this group as an online forum.

Kind regards,
Paul Veenvliet
