Hmmmmmmmmmm. Don't know where you got info that "virtually all tap
water in the U.S. is pH>7.0." In much of the eastern part of the
country the tap water pH<7.0, which is why lead solder is a problem.
If pH>7.0, lead will remain in the solder. At lower pH, the lead
mobilizes, and the tap water contains toxic lead.
