I used to have a "Phoxostomus funduloreas" (rosyside x mtn redbelly dace !) from a Little River trib (Kanawha drainage) in Ashe Co NC. He had the large mouth of a rosyside dace but more horizontal, appetite & aggressive attitude of rosyide, but tiny scales, red-orange belly, and hints of black & gold markings like redbelly dace. Great fish - lived many years - held ground against big Cyprinellas. Jenkins & Burkhead's VA fishes book lists all kinds of crazy inter-genus hybrid minnows that come out of multi-species spawning aggregations. --- Gerald
