thanks to everyone for the suggestions, info and help.

Unfortunately the AC in my apt sucks. I tested it out last night, and
the inside temp never dropped below the outside temp. In fact it never
got colder than 3 degrees more than the outside temp. So I gave up,
opened the windows and turned on the fans again. I am testing to see if
the place can hold the cold in during the day today, normally I leave a
couple windows open during the day. But, I don't hold out much hope.
I've also started manually exchanging refridgerated water either once a
day or every other day, we'll see if that makes a difference.

I am contemplating the idea of getting a chiller, but it looks like the
cheapest one i can find that will suit my needs is a via aqua 1/4hp 25cc
that will run me-in-least $350 after shipping. A very large expenditure
to say the least, not sure if I can really afford it right now. Anybody
have opinions on that model? or on other chillers?

Granted, I expected my first try with these mountain stream fish
wouldn't be succesful, but that redline and greenfin have to be the
coolest fish that I've ever seen, much less have kept, and I'm not ready
to give up. Especially since they've all made it home alive, I was
surprised to see that, after bouncing them around in their coolers while
driving those mountain roads.

thanks,
-derek
