RE: NANFA-L-- New photos from the field today

My formal education did not contain any information about fish
identification so I am only going on what I have read and observed but I
always thought that a sure sign of a blue gill is a black spot above and
below where the tail meets the body. I do not see this in any of those
picts, I could be wrong but I always thought that this would rule out a
bluegill.

I'd have to say that fish one, two, and three, are just young bluegills.
They vary a little, from fish to fish, population to population, with the
lighting, and with their mood.
