It's not Java Moss. :) It's most likely a species of Fontinallis, which (to
the untrained eye) is indistinguishable from Java Moss (many, many aquarium
stores sell it as JM.) The main difference that I've ever been able to find
is actually touch. Java Moss is soft, while Fontinallis is kind of rough
feeling. Side by side, I can tell them apart. Hand me one or the ohter,
and it's only by the "touch test" that I can tell you which it is.

There are, of course, about a bajillion other aquatic mosses that you might
find. However, Fontinallis is by far the most common.
