A few rinses should take care of that. If not, I would also suspect the hose
you use to fill it, The usual green garden hoses should not be used. Instead a
white hose, available in most hardware stores, that is designed for RV use
with potable water would be preferred. For a drum, try a discarded 55 gallon
plastic drum that was used for FDA approved food contact contents. Or, put a drum
liner in your trash can.
