I got 2 55 gallon blue and a 20 gallon white all food grade drums from a
local beer/wine home brew store. They get apple/grape juice in the blue
drums and malt extract in the white ones.

After a really good cleaning and a year of use, I get a film on the water if
it sits for a few weeks. It's probably something in the air settling out
that is harmless to the fish. I also get a film on the surface my aquariums
with canister filters when the surface extracters get full of plants.... I
usually have air running in the drums to keep the water moving, then I don't
see the film, it's probably the same with the small aquariums with air
powered filters. Who knows what's in the air these days.....
