You're quite possibly right; as I stated in a following post, since
earthworms are terrestrial the parasites they carry may not be communicable
to fish. This statement very well may have since been discredited; I read it
in an old Innes book and an old Axelrod book from the mid-80's, so it may be
outdated info.
