Apple snails (sometimes calles 'mystery snails' over there) also deal with
hydra, particularly young, hungry ones. I don't think they completely
eradicate them though, just reduce their numbers to levels where they cease
to be a problem. These snails can destroy soft-leaved plants pretty quickly
though.
