I would try to deter the ducks. They most likely will eat most of the
plants, and in turn fill the pond full of "fertilizer" and make the water
look like pea soup. The only thing I found to work is the leaf or bird
netting. Leave it up till the middle of May or so and then they will have
gone elsewhere to nest, and hopefully leave your stuff alone. If your pond
is a small preformed pond, it would be akin to haveing a pair of bison
calving in your yard.
