Fortunately enough, the genetic differences between individuals, even
different "races" or ethnic groups in a species are much, much slimmer
than the differences between species. However, the bigger scare to me
would be if this sort of thing got out of control, and found a wild
population (after all, I'm sure even Zebra mussels are neccessary
SOMEWHERE. :) A more frightening possibility would be if there was a
mutatoin in the control mechanism of this device (which would probably be
organic, and therefore prone to mutations) which could damage other
populations. For instance, if a treatment were applied to control one
species, mutated, and somehow wiped out another (native) species.
