Not only scary but why does it not freeze there?? I assume natural laws
apply even North of the Mason-Dixon line <VBG>.
It sure does turn to mush here when frozen. we _are_ speaking of the
water hyacinth(Eichhornia crassipes major) and this is the same plant
that has choked many water ways here and elsewhere. Why would it not be
destroyed in N.C. where I assume the winters are much harsher than in
New Orleans. Do they "come back" from seed????
May I refer you to the 19 th Revised edition of Exotic Aquarium Fishes
by William T. Innes L.H.D.on page 111 which says "It dies over winter
unless kept in strong light in a Tropical green house", just asking, not
questioning you statement.
Stay well,
Leo
