>From here it runs into a 25 foot long stream that is divided into two
sections by a gravel dam (which water flows through so it could work as a
bio-filter). The upper stream currently has fieryblack (Cyprinella
pyrrhomelas) and yellowfin (Notropis lutipinnis)shiners and the lower
section has lined topminnows (Fundulus lineolatus). The stream then flows
into a 165gal pre-form which currently has blackbanded sunfish (Enneacanthus
chaetodon) and banded topminnows (F. cingulatus). This flows into a 100gal
pre-form which has more blackbanded sunfish along with golden topminnows (F.
chrysotus), bluefin killies (Lucania goodei), and pygmy livebearers
(Heterandria formosa). This flows into a 125gal pre-form which is currently
empty except for a few Heterandria, some plants and a covering of azolla.
The upper two ponds (165 & 100) have nymphoides spp., parrots feather, hair
grass, and several other plants growing in them. I have a screen over the
spillways to prevent fish from moving downstream (I hope). I still have a
lot of work to do to get them presentable such as the rockwork around them
and the plants in them.

How will you perform biological filtration?
