I use 35 & 55 gallon plastic drums. Leave the lid off for about 5 days then
put the lid on and seal. Before opening, slosh the water around to drown
any mosquitoes that have matured to the adult phase.

i have used a home made cover of nylon window screen to fit over a 5 gallon
bucket.
leave the bucket uncovered for a few days and then put on the cover.
what hatches in there stays in there.....
