NANFA-- Gar aggressiveness

I forgot to mention that I thought that it was weird that the shortnose gar
mentioned in the American Currents article would fight over recently dead
cicadas with other gars. I never really thought of them as insect eaters,
especially not adults (I could see really gar fingerlings eating insects I
guess). The thing that really surprised me was that any gar would display
territorial (however temporary) aggression. I always thought of them as being
merely aggressive in a predatory way towards fish small enough to be
swallowed.
