One is about a movement to replace the rank-based Linnaean system of
taxonomy (Kingdom=>Phylum=>etc.=>Genus=>species) with the clade-based
PhyloCode system (which is rankless). This was news to me! You can read

Another article of interest, especially to herp enthusiasts, is by Whit
Gibbons et al.: "The Global Decline of Retiles, Deja Vu Amphibians." Its
excellent and should be required reading for anyone interested in vertebrate
conservation. I think that it can also be accessed through the above link
but must be purchased if you are not a member of the AIBS.
