When I was a student at Clemson University, Professor of Entomology John
Morse told me about a place in Greenville or Spartanburg, SC, that sold good
used lab-quality dissecting microscopes at great prices. He was quite high
on the place, and even though I was about to graduate and drive across the
country to Washington in a cramped little car, he still tried to convince me
that I should get a microscope there because the prices were so good. I
didn't get one, but perhaps you could find his email on the Clemson website
and remind him of what he had said back in 1991 :-)
He's a nice, generous man.
