>A systematics-in-progress question--to what nominal species does that
>Federalsburg (coastal plain) population belong?
It had previously been relegated to mottled sculpin, Cottus bairdi.
The description of the blueridge sculpin was due to come out in the December
Copeia. My coauthors and I disagreed on how to approach this description-
the new species is somewhat variable across the several drainages
occupied... and I was outnumbered, so it's included with the new species. I
haven't gotten my new Copeia yet, and haven't seen the manuscript since it
was submitted. Have you recieved yours, Bruce? Chris?
At any rate, the "bairdi" complex is really... well, complex. More soon...
:)
Oh, and when I get the pics developed of this critter, I'll scan some if
anyone's that interested.
cheers,
Dave
