Various, ( I would think) freshwater jelly fish show up in my ponds
throughout the year. Most are stationary, or attached, and get quite big
( like a cherry). There are a few free swimming ones, these are smaller and
pea sized. I usually only see them at night when I shine a light in the
water. Right now there are the polyps all over the intake to my skimmer.
They seem to like the aluminam plate around the intake. It sort of looks
like a yellowish tan fungus. I am guessing like the different freshwater
sponges, they revert back, or "go to seed" in cold water.
