I've thought for quite a while that there are a lot of wonderful rivers and
streams in the glaciated part of the country that have great water quality
but very low diversity due to fact that the glaciers drove everything out.
The Mississippi River above St. Anthony Falls in Minneapolis has a low
species diversity, but there are many clear clean streams flowing into it
that I would think could harbor a much higher diversity.
