Here's an article I drummed up via Google, placed out there by the esteemed
Mr. Unmack:

http://www.peter.unmack.net/acn/as/6/vol6no1.pdf

Look to page 8. It begins discussing a group dedicated to the survival of the
endangerd sturgeon species. The references may get you some place to start.

The next thing you'd need to do is get familiar with writing proposals and be
willing to do a schlode of paper work. Sadly, anyone can eat one for dinner,
use it for bait, etc without getting caught. By bringing attention to the
fact that you're seeking these animals to save them, you can get into a lot of
trouble, and I think that would make anyone walk away bitter. Although I was
unable to find the Global Heritage Status of the species you mentioned... I
think they'd have to be G1's (which means we're basically keeping hope that
one will pop up somewhere). Taking one without all the appropriate paper and
people involved could get someone in big trouble.

So, I'd start with the people who've already studied them and network thru
there, if you've got the time to do this. Then once you've networked.... Time
to start looking for money.

Hope this helps...
Todd

For those of you still interested in saving the dwarf sturgeon I have a
commercial sturgeon breeder who has agreed to put time and effort into
breeding these sturgeon if we can get them. I don't know how to get the ball
rolling but saving these sturgeon would be a unique experience and
opportunity is anyone still interested?
