I concur. I also have Diana's book. It is truely a gem and well worth
the bucks especially if you are trying to grow native plants with your
native fish!

We were also tired of hearing you *had to have* $700 in equipment to make a planted aquarium "right". I went with sand, he went with soil. This book provided us with the encouragement that there were actual scientific basis behind why plants would thrive more successfully in, say, a native substrate, than ummm, aquarium gravel ;)

This lady really did her homework, and makes claims and conclusions based on tested hypothesis, controls and documented physiological /ecological processes instead of the more common "Aquarists' Intuition" (of which I admit, I've been very guilty in the past ;) normally found in aquaria manuals.

There aren't any pretty pictures and such, but the DATA and experiment graphs page by page surely makes up for it. Aqualog, Amano and Tepoot have enough pretty pictures for those purposes. We want some science man! :)
