Good to read you comments on your winter collecting. Also good to read those
comments from Kentucky. I was out Saturday morning but it was to go into a
swamp to pass 5 young Boy Scouts on poison sumac ID. they all passed. I did
put a thermometer in to the creek where I collected the parents of my N.
redbelly dace several years ago, the water was below 35. How cold are the
waters in WI. this time of year? I have seen your video on winter
collecting, but have never managed to catch anything in the dead of winter
before. I will be out on a campout in three weeks and will take my nets and
hope for luck. I can always get Scouts to help, boys still seem to enjoy
catching stuff. My cold room is at 50 degrees with 8.5 hours of light, the
banded and candy darters are coloring up hopefully they will spawn in the
spring. All you southern boys keep up the posts on collecting I won't be
doing much for several months and its good to hear some of us still have
their feet in the water.
