Notropis typically has 8 dorsal ray, Rasboras always have 9.
Rasboras possess "an upward-projecting knob at the symphesis of
the lower jaw, fitting into a corresponding depression in the upper
lip." (Brittan, Martin R., _A Revision of the Indo-Malayan Fresh-
Water Fish Genus Rasbora_ [publication date not indicated])
