I just took a peek at the NAS site, and it says they are native to the Great
Lakes states. They also discuss an introduced population there further
down the page: Houghton County in the upper peninsula (Lake Superior
drainage) of Michigan. The map apparently just has Michican miscolored. It
should be orange for native and introduced. I believe the same is true for
Minnesota.
