An interesting aside to your comments...A few decades ago, Iowa
declared the sunflower (official state flower of Kansas) a nuisance, and
ordered it's removal along state roads. When Kansas heard about it, they
declared open season on the goldfinch (state bird of Iowa). So consider
your inquiry about the Topeka shiner. We don't want the folks in Kansas
wiping out the Iowa darter! (-:
