I have only seen photos. So far in all my life looking into the ocean in
Hawaii, I have never seen them in real life. I have seen real "squid"
diving duringthe day. hard to catch and Ithink my clowfish ate them. OK it
was a small squid. Ithink the behavior of thebobtail squid is significantly
different from other squids. Also it is primarily nocturnal and secretive.
I am not too sure how good a tank inhabitant it would make. i don't think
they would be as bad as octopus with escaping......

Subject: NANFA-- Hawaiian bobtail squid

Does anyone on NANFA who lives in Hawaii know about Euprymna scolopes, the
Hawaiian bobtail squid? When I start setting up a reef tank I would love to
have
a few of these lovely little animals. They are quite common and in no danger
of extinction but no wholesaler will ship them due to their small size and
short life spans. Is anyone in Hawaii willing to help he out on this? I plan
a
huge refugium and I want these squid/cuttlefish in my refugium.
