"Freshwater Fishes in Mississippi" by Fannye Cook was written in 1959 and is
STILL available for $5.00! This might be the cheapest, and oldest, 'Fishes
of..' books around. These are old reprints and are either spiral or
paper-bound. Unlike some other publications of the period, minnows,
darters, and topminnows receive species-level write-ups, although as Martin
noted (and quoted), there was emphasis on fishery value.

If you cannot make it to Jackson to purchase a copy, or if you would like to
do some background reading prior to the meeting, you can order a copy by
mail for $6.50.
