NANFA-- Outdoor tanks

I forget who was asking about outdoor tanks, but I have 3 currently.
In one I have a meager 50W heater. We have had unusually cold
weather for Mississippi this year, and in this particular tank the
surface has 2-3" of ice on the surface, except for a small area
around the heater. The tank is populated with spotted bass (2) and
several juvenile longears (feeders). They are doing quite well. In
another tank I have some other longears and some taillight shiners
(keeping 'em for B.G.) and they LOVE the cold weather. But they
have a larger heater too, and their tank hasn't iced over.

Whenever I see an old lady slip and fall on a wet sidewalk,
my first instinct is to laugh. But then I think, what if
I was an ant, and she fell on me. Then it wouldn't seem
quite so funny.
