Hi Jeff,

In Europe aquarists use Myriophyllum heavily as a perfect substrate for
egg deposition, both for native or tropical species (mostly M.
brasiliense for tropicals) . Ceratophyllum can be a pest sometimes, and
believe me it is quite unpleasant to do snorkelling or skin diving in a
Ceratophyllum bed looking for some nice fishes. Sometimes is so harsh
that only a good suit will protect you skin.

If you scan a leaf whorl I can tell you the species.
Also for the Danish friend, aparently the echinatum is ranked as a ssp
today.
