I have retrieved a rod and reel and an anchor by casting out a heavy metal
spoon with a treble hook. The rod and reel was one that I was trolling with
that I put down for a minute to light my pipe and a fish struck. The anchor
was a joint effort by my new (25 years ago) daughter-in-law and my youngest
daughter who forgot to attach the rope. Both retrieved successfully.
