Steven :

This is a non-native killifish, the scientific
name is Aplocheilus lineatus "Gold", and
is a color morph of the "wild type". It is native to India and
surrounding countries.

This is the best known of the Aplocheilus
species, as well as the easiest to breed.
It has a very large mouth and when mature will readily eat smaller
fish. At
maturity it will achieve a length of 5 " and
is very striking. It also has a definite personality and mine readily
eat black worms from between my finger tips.

Now as to culture/propagation :

1) Water softness NOT critical
2) pH NOT critical
3) Minimum size tank....10 gal.
4) Water temp. 66 to 75 deg.
5) no salt needed
6) They will eat flake food/anything....but
will come into breeding quickly when fed live food such as blackworms.
7) Breeding pair can be permanently housed together and mop spawned ;
eggs
water incubated in same type water as parents.

If I can be of further assistance please do not hesitate to ask.

Regards,
Leo
