According to one site -

the Texas (C. [H. ?] cyanoguttatum)and pearlscale (C. [H.?] carpinte)
cichlids are very similar, but the Texas cichlid has a distinctive series of
lateral blotches. I have never seen the pearlscale but I have seen a lot of
Texas and the blotches are usually very well-developed (I will send you a
photo of some field caught specimens). Have pearlscale cichlids been found
in Texas now ?
