I have kept them before in shoals with creek chubs and blacknose dace and they
have done well. Even in the heat of the summer in large poorly ventilated area
they did good. all i did to kinda keep the temp reasonable was add ice cubes
in the late afternoon. because they feed on such larger things though they
always seemed to slim down. the chubs would eat no matter what anyways so i
fed them aobut twice a day a large amount of flakes (Earthworm/Beef/Brine) and
alternated frozen brine and bloodworms. they really liked freeze dried
plankton too. unfortunately they also like to jump or mine did. all mine
collected were from a pristine/near pristine section of Silver Creek here in
ohio. It is part of the Mahoning River drainage and is classified as a Cold
Water Stream.
