I like to use oak or other hardwood when I can find it.
the rains we have had this last year have made for some very nice collections
of driftwood along the banks of local rivers.
Rather than aquarium glue, I like to take a piece of slate and drill a hole in
it with a masonry drill. Then I attach the wood to the slate with a
stainless steel screw.
