fish lice or amphipods? It seems unlikely that true fish lice would hatch
from a piece of wood. Nearly all wood in water has amphipods associated with
it. It's a big part of what some of them eat. fish will soon clean them out.
I often rinse amphipods off water logged wood and feed them to my fish.
