Very once in a while European bitterling will show up in American shops, ay
least some of the shops know to seek a variety of fishes. It has been
credited with surviving in one New York river.

Naturally if it is kept in a pond, the pond should have no drainage to a
local watershed.

The Bitterling would never be the problem that the big head carp is
becoming. I think the keepers of those promised to keep them out of the
local water sheds too.

All the best!
