We were surprised at the lack of silversides, the only ones being caught
were juveniles. They were about 1" long. We only got them at West
Island in Fairhaven and very few at the Little River in Dartmouth. I
think maybe a little later, as last year we started out a little later in
the summer, and always hauled in ton's of them. Most (as you state)
dying immediately. It's always a gamble getting them back to the nature
center alive, but those that make it do very well in the tank.
