Bruce,

Rego and I have gone out for spotfin killies (F. luciae) many times. The
last time we were at the only Mass site. This time we were not having much
luck. Before giving up I headed right up to the edge of the salt marsh;
right near the road. I got a couple. I figured a few more sweeps of the
dip net. I took a step into the creek...I was wearing hip waders...I'm not
afraid of a little mud. Sweep...sweep...sweep...GIANT SUCKING SOUND!

Right up to my crotch! Over the hip waders. And as you know that mud is
the nastiest, stinkiest mud I've ever encountered...even for a saltmarsh!
It's a good thing Rego is a fire fighter. We went to the nearest fire
station to hose off. And be it know...I saved the catch in the net that
contained several luciae. FUNDULUS HUNTER! (killie poop)

After that we sloshed into the local Burger King. We have a tradition of
slopping up fast food joints while collecting...but that's a whole other
ranting. We have looked for them at other promising looking site to the
east to no avail. We will try to check in RI.

I will check on the salt marsh in Marion/Mattapoisett. I do have access to
the Crescent Beach area. I know a resident. It was an amazing marsh. I
was really impressed by the size of the meadows.
