In case you haven't seen it, the Aug. 2002 Tropical Fish Hobbyist has a
short article on the aquarium spawning of spotted gar (Lepisosteus
oculatus). Contains some very nice photos of eggs and fry. Spawning occurred
in a 118 gallon tank. Male was 17.7 in long and female 19.3 in. Both were 5
years old. Nothing special was done to induce spawning other than a high
protein diet of fish, crayfish, krill and pellets. They just did it, in May,
as water temperature began to increase.
