That was my experience last August, also. Afterwards, one of our group viewed
an underwater video that he took while wading showing the Apistogramma
species (bitaeniata) and their use of the leaf litter for cave spawning.
Right there in the picture was an actively swimming Coral snake. On the other
hand, there was one person in our group who did wear waders.
