Lake Donegal mentioned in the first post in this thread has the state record
for pumpkinseed (sorry I don't know the size) and I have caught some monstrous
ones there myself in years past. Unfortunately I haven't caught ANY pumpkinseeds
there recently. As mentioned some of the bluegills we caught had pumpkinseed type
charactersitics and they were pretty big.
Could it be a little hybrid vigor?
Also a friend mentioned that there is something about Cranberry Lake that
produces big fish. Whatever it is , the panfish population is evidently well
balanced because you seldom catch all those stunted ones that are typical in many
places.

Just a thought.
