There's a fairly extensive web site about the Big South Fork National River
and Recreation Area (NRRA), with a bunch of interesting .pdf's about the
geology and history of the area. The good news for some of us is that
fishing is allowed there, since it's a multi-use type of park rather than
purely preservationist like, say, the Little River system in Alabama. I'd
only vaguely heard of it before, now I'm sorry we're not going there for a
week! (For Civil War buffs, the area was a major hide-out for Confederate
cavalry/guerrillas.)
