Just learned that I am going to be able to come to the convention this
weekend! Dr. Tom Laughlin, a molecular geneticist and vertebrate zoologist
(also a longtime friend from here in upper east Tennessee), has been
railroaded....er..I mean convinced that this is a necessary trip for many
reasons and he has agreed to finance our attendance. I am a bit short on
funding right now as I have lost my job teaching at a local community college
due to budget cuts and other such factors. The funny thing is I am the fish
collector/keeper of the two but he is a member of NANFA and I'm not (yet).
Tom is leaving Virginia State University to return to East Tennessee State
University as a faculty member in the Biology Dept. this fall. We are both
really looking forward to meeting all of you and doing some collecting and
learning this weekend. See you in Huntsville!
