What kind of disaster was it?

Sculpins reportedly aren't that hard to keep, really.
C. bairdi needs cool water, a bit of current, and water that's not too
soft or acidic. It's also highly susceptible to aluminium poisoning, as
I understand it.
It won't normally eat flake food, but may take pellets with some
training. Otherwise you'll need strips of flesh or feeders.

All that said, I've never kept them myself; I'm just telling you some
stuff I looked up in a book. It's likely that others here have kept them
and could help you
more.
