In the aquarium the Florida Flag Fish is the best know algae and plant eater. Fundulus notatus and olivacious are voracious algae and plant eaters as well. I have watched F. notatus munch away at Black beard algae, ripping it off the plants. I have also seen to a lesser degree, F. chrysotus taking nips from Hgophila polysperma.
