I'm pleased to announce a new application developed by NANFA member Jim
Barbour. Jim has graciously provided a utility for those of you who would
like to have your collecting trips posted online, pictures and all, without
having to maintain a website, and is available to anyone, regardless of
wether they're NANFA members or not. This site will also serve in a
capacity to gather data on species found at locales, by locale, state, etc.
The search utility, once many reports have been added, will be a very
*powerful* tool for anyone interested in North American fishes.
The site can be found at: http://www.nanfa.org/collection
You'll see that a few reports have been entered already. Browse through
them to get an idea of how the output looks. For those of you who are html
savvy, you'll note that I added some basic html to my text which will output
as html in the page (<b>, <i>, <a>, <blockquote>, <ul>, etc). We didn't run
into one yet with pictures, but I have a couple small trips I did this
spring that I'll add the next couple days, so you can see how easy it is to
add your photos to a report (but don't wait for me if you're ready to go!
:).
Although the site is user friendly for those familiar with online forms,
chances are there will be some who've not done this before. If you have any
troubles or apprehensions, please feel free to contact myself
(todd_at_farmertodd.com) or Jim (info at alljb.com) and we'll try and walk you
through or better describe what is hanging you up.
Please be sure to create a login for yourself... An email will be sent to
you and will give you the information to allow you to modify your pages
later (add some pictures, change some text, etc).
I hope you all enjoy using this site, and a big THANK YOU to Jim for all of
his work, and thanks to Chris Scharpf for providing the species listed :)
